85 Units of King Long Buses Delivered to Papua New Guinea Serving 2018 APEC Economic Leader’s Meeting

On October 10^th, the vehicle handover ceremony under the assistance of China to Papua New Guinea was held at Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. Xue Bing, Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, attended the ceremony and signed the handover certificate with Maru, the Minister of the Ministry of Planning of Papua New Guinea. On the same day, 94 vehicles donated by China, including 85 King Long buses and private buses, were officially delivered to Papua New Guinea, together with the friendship of the Chinese people.

Xue Bing said that, the relationship between China and Papua New Guinea had flourished, and the cooperation in various fields had yielded fruitful results in recent years. The vehicles donated by China for the APEC Informal Leadership Meeting, held at Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea in November this year will be used for urban transportation and firefighting to continue to benefit the people of Papua New Guinea. Minister Maru said that, the vehicles donated by China would not only play a significant role during the APEC meeting but also would benefit the people of Papua New Guinea for a long time. He also believed that, with the support of the partners such as China, Papua New Guinea would be able to hold a successful and distinctive APEC meeting.

From November 12 to 18 this year, the 2018 APEC Informal Leadership Meeting was held at Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, and other towns. Papua New Guinea is located along the southern extension of the "21^st Century Maritime Silk Road". In recent years, the relationship between China and Papua New Guinea has flourished. Especially in June this year, Papua New Guinea became the first Pacific island country to sign the memorandum of understanding for the construction of the "Belt and Road" with China. In order to help Papua New Guinea successfully host this summit of business and political leaders with international influence, China has provided strong support and assistance to Papua New Guinea in terms of project assistance and guarantee of meeting matters. One of the important matters is vehicles for the meeting.

To service the international event - APEC Informal Leadership Meeting, the vehicles shall meet strict requirements for safety, comfort, etc. In addition, foreign assistance, as an important means of diplomacy of great powers in the new era, has also been given a higher mission. Donation of vehicles has illustrated the diplomatic style of China in the new era to a certain extent. China National Corporation for Overseas Economic Cooperation, as the execution unit of the vehicle assistance project, finally chose King Long as the manufacturer of the 85 meeting service buses after comprehensively considering the brand reputation, representativeness, product quality and service reputation. Both parties have jointly assumed the national missions, served the national strategies, fulfilled the responsibilities as state-owned enterprises and actively participated in and promoted the construction of the "Belt and Road".
